Shew...shore is dusty in here...

Excuse me while I dust the place off. shew...shew...

I need my blog. I miss it. I miss AOL journals but no use in whining. I don't like Facebook, I don't like Myspace. I'm a lost blogging soul floating around in the World Wide Web. I'm like the ghost of blogs past. Will you be my ghost of blogs future?

The garden is still doing well. Well, sort of. The carrots, onions, and canteloupes did not make it at all. Caterpillars and cheap seeds did them in. Lessons learned.

But the Sunflowers are about 6 feet tall and flourishing, the Zinnias are beautiful and multicolored, the watermelons have lots and lots and lots of leaves but no fruit. Probably too late. But I've learned that I am very good at growing beans. I have a freezer bag slap full of black eyed peas and they are coming more every day. So next year, I grow beans!! Lots and lots of beans.

Also, my tomato plants are huge but haven't flowered at all yet. Hopefully soon.

Let's see, the kids are enjoying summer vacation. Kara and Cindi both have part time jobs. Jacob is leaving for summer camp tomorrow for one week and he did swimming classes this summer as well.

My cousin Angie got married on a Harley, lol, and we had an over the hill party for my other cousin Allen. He turned 40. I turn 40 this year in Sept.

As for Ryan and I, we have had nothing but bad luck this year with things breaking and going out on us such as the car, both of them, the dryer, the a/c unit in the house, etc...Next year is going to be better for us. I just know it has to be. The Gods of good luck shine down on us, please.

I haven't been sewing all summer until this week. And the kids I watch haven't been here in months. So money is tight too. The economy has really really hurt the construction industry in particular and that is our bread and butter. So we subsist on bread and water. Well, not literally but you get the drift.

I am thinking of going back to school. I am interested in copy editing. I have no idea what the demand is for it but I'd be good at it. Now don't go back through this entry and see if I made any mistakes because I did not edit.

  2. It's about time we are hearing from you! I think I sent you a telepathic message - I had been thinking about you all day yesterday!
Sorry to hear so much has gone wrong this year. The economy sure is in a major mess. I've been on my summer break, have to go back to work on Thursday already!
I've been having a great time since our move over to blogger but it's definitely not the same as AOL journals, and most of our friends from over there have disappeared or only pop in now and then. I have made some wonderful new friends here though - don't give up on it!

  4. I think things are tight everywhere. It's really hard to make ends meet. My summer has been taken up taking care of my daughter who has had two back surgeries since the last of March, Then Staph got in one of them during surgery and it has been a long drawn out thing. Blessings to your family. Hugs, Helen

  5. Well, THERE you are. Cough cough (the dust). Just kidding. My blog is just as dusty. I hate blogger. I hate MY Space. Facebook IS keeping me in closer touch with some family & friends. But it's not the same. I can never seem to find anything to blog about anyway. But I don't want to give it up. I'm awful about making the rounds reading others' but so many seem to be like us and off to other things. Have you tried regular green beans in your garden? God there is NOTHING to me better than fresh or fresh canned green beans and corn. I could never grow carrots, onions or radishes. I know they need a LOT of water or the onions/radishes end up hot.Don't really garden anymore. We planted two tomato plants on the end of this flower bed out back & they are huge. Covered with blooms and already have lots of fruit on the vine. The 3rd one we planted in a leftover topsy turvy planter. It started off well, then the main plant split I twist-tied it back together & it is producing a few baby tomatoes but looks puny. Son, Tommy & 2 of his girls are still living here. (3 yrs March). Love having them here but he got laid off from the Railroad last Nov & hasn't been called back to work yet. Looks like he is going to have to find something else or go to school. The girls are 6 & 7 and will be in 1st & 2nd grade. I don't know what I will do when they DO move out. Rich is the only one working & working his butt off trying to keep us all fat & sassy & doing a darn good job of it. Tom is a blessing around here though. He definitely carries his own weight. Anyway, it sounds like you have your hands full & I have faith the economy is going to turn around-it can't get a whole lot worse can it? LOL
I check in on facebook often. Do you twitter? I haven't started it, but have several people telling me I need to get on there & "tweet." LMAO. Take care of yourself, friend.
Hugs from weird weather Texas, Barb

  6. I'm still here, blogging away! I don't like Facebook or Myspace either.

The economy is starting to mess with most of us now.

Have a good week and don't be a stranger.
