Repost of my Tribute to Manuel Patrocino Victim of 9/11/01

Originally posted September 11, 2006. I have signed up for a new victim to write a tribite to for 2009 as well.

Manuel Patrocino was 34 years old when he died on September 11th, 2001 during the terrorist attacks on America. He was a devoted husband and father to two small children, Keyla and Alex. When the attacks occurred, his wife, Sandra had just recently come to America, Manhattan specifically, from the Dominican Republic. She couldn't speak our language and felt lost in a big city without her husband. Manuel was her map and guide through this world. Fortunately, she had family and friends as well as the Red Cross by her side to help her. But the family is forever changed and they will never forget what happened that day. Neither should we, for the sake of his memory and the memory of ALL those who died that day.

Manuel was an employee at the Windows on the World restaurant at the top of the World Trade Center where he was in charge of uniforms.

His family and friends say he was good with his hands and loved to build things and made his own furniture. He also spent a lot of time with his loved ones. They say he was a happy-go-lucky guy who always had a joke to tell and would always make people smile.

His co-workers remember that he was loyal to his employer, a hard worker, and always had a hand to lend when needed. I wish I could have known him.

So on this day, I hope that you would all take a moment to say a special prayer for Manuel Patrocino's family as they still mourn this special man. And for all those whose lives were lost and the loved ones left behind.

She's 19 today

My oldest daughter Kara is 19 today.

I'm very proud of my daughter. She's a good girl with a good head on her shoulders.

She's in her sophomore year in college, studying to become an art director. She wants to be in advertising. She also has a job painting faces and doing henna tattoos at our local theme park.

Today she went to Disney with some friends for her birthday.

I love you Kara.
